Teresa and her sister Anna, who also lives at Mirembe, are twins. Their dad abandoned their mother. The mom had no job to take care of them so she used drinking to drown her problems. Their mom used to beat them and chase them away. The girls would turn to the streets and go through trash to find food. They could stay home on some days and others they had to sleep on the streets because of their mom. They had only been to school for part of 1 year. Since coming to Mirembe, she has heard of the love of Jesus and now knows him personally! Anna is now doing very well in school. She is very healthy and has learned to forgive her mother. She is very happy now.
