Sharif Joel (Rasta) was born July 27, 2011.

Commonly known as Rasta came to the Sonrise Baby Home after his mother fell ill and was unable to care for him, resulting in severe malnutrition. Tragically, she passed away when Joel was just two years old, and his father abandoned him, denying paternity.

Rasta is one of our many stories of being rescued and raised from near death as a baby to a thriving young man. Now a teenager, Rasta is healthy and energetic boy who loves playing soccer and making chapattis (Ugandan fried bread). He dreams of becoming a musician to spread the Word of Christ through his songs.
